I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I have always had an interest in people and a desire to create an atmosphere where an individual is able to discover their own unique gifts, interests and talents. This has taken expression mainly in working within Early Years Care and Education supporting children – and their families – to reach their full potential. In recent years I have gone through a process of change in how I express my interest in and care for others by studying and training as a Counsellor, using the Personcentred approach. This model has, as its name suggests, the Person at the centre of counselling, which sits at the heart of what I believe – that with the right environment and conditions, we are able to move forward and enjoy life. Personally, I have always found the natural environment brings me a fresh sense of self and equilibrium.

I have been passionate about wildlife, nature and exploring the wild places of Cornwall since before I can remember. I have always felt a fundamental need to be intimately connected with nature for my own physical and spiritual wellbeing. It is relatively recently that I have developed a deeper realisation of nature’s healing properties. Now I am passionate about helping other people to make the connection, and to share my knowledge of how Cornwall’s wildlife fits within our modern landscape. I have worked and volunteered for various environmental organisations for over 30 years, including the RSPB, Natural England, the Environment Agency and the British Trust for Ornithology. I set up my own consultancy 9 years’ ago, carrying out a wide range of wildlife and habitat surveys, practical management of nature reserves and conservation sites, landscape gardening and running identification and habitat management courses.
